About our Thyme
Red Thyme (Thymus vulgaris) is a perennial Mediterranean herb known for its small evergreen leaves and intensely aromatic flowering tops. Although compact in size, it is one of the most fragrant plants in the mint family, producing an essential oil prized by formulators across multiple industries.
The warm summers, fertile soils, and abundant sunshine of Bulgaria provide excellent conditions for cultivating Red Thyme. Throughout the growing season, the plants develop a rich concentration of aromatic compounds that give the herb its distinctive warm, spicy, and herbaceous character.

Planting
Red Thyme is grown from carefully selected seeds, which are first nurtured into healthy young plants before being transplanted into our fields. This cultivation method promotes uniform growth and creates the foundation for a healthy, productive crop.
Maturing
Throughout spring, Red Thyme develops compact green foliage rich in aromatic compounds. As temperatures rise, the plants become denser and more fragrant, preparing for the flowering season. Our fields are carefully monitored throughout the growing cycle to encourage healthy development and preserve the quality of the crop.
Flowering
During early summer, Red Thyme fields are covered with delicate pink to violet flowers that attract bees and other pollinators. This flowering period marks the moment when the plants develop their characteristic aromatic intensity and are approaching the ideal harvest stage.
Harvest
Red Thyme is harvested during full flowering, when the concentration of aromatic compounds is at its highest. The freshly harvested plants are transported promptly to the distillery, helping preserve their natural fragrance and ensuring the production of premium-quality essential oil and floral water.
Steam Distillation
Immediately after harvest, the fresh flowering tops undergo gentle steam distillation. This traditional extraction process preserves the authentic botanical profile of the plant while producing both Red Thyme essential oil and aromatic floral water. The color of red thyme oil is amber.
Quality & Storage
Every batch of thyme oil and thyme hydrosol is carefully documented and stored under appropriate conditions to maintain freshness, stability, and complete traceability from our fields to the finished product.
